Pedomint reads your step count from Apple Health and converts it as you go. 100 steps becomes 1 minute of screen time and 1 coin, with nothing to tap.

Unlock guarded apps
You pick which apps to guard; they stay behind a shield until you spend minutes to open them, and when the timer runs out the shield comes back. A difficulty dial — 1×, 1.5× or 2× — raises what an unlock costs, never what a step earns.

Keep the streak
Reaching your step goal extends the streak by a day. From day 7 the run pays a 10% bonus on every coin you mint. Miss a day and it ends, unless a Streak Freeze from the Mint Shop covers the gap.

Coins buy two things, both in the Mint Shop. Your level is separate: it grows from every coin you have ever minted, spending never lowers it, and every level you cross pays out coins.

Pedomint runs no servers of its own. There is no sign-up and no email asked for, and the only frameworks it links are Apple's. This is the complete list of what it touches.

The limits are iOS's, not ours.
Every screen time app sits on the same Apple frameworks, and those frameworks have edges. These are the five that matter.
- Uninstalling removes every shield
- Shields are applied by iOS on Pedomint's behalf, so deleting the app lifts all of them at once. This is a commitment you keep, not a lock you cannot open.
- iOS can act a few seconds late
- Screen Time is enforced by the system, not by us. If your phone is busy, a shield may appear or lift slightly after the timer ends. That is scheduling, not something we can fix.
- Steps are only as good as your device
- Steps arrive from Apple Health, which merges iPhone and Apple Watch readings. Leave the watch on the charger and those steps did not happen; Pedomint cannot count what was never recorded.
- Coins cannot be bought
- The Mint Shop takes coins and nothing else. There is no coin bundle in the store, and no way to skip the walking, because that would defeat the app.
- It manages nobody but you
- Pedomint is built for limits you set on yourself. It is not a parental control tool, it does not report to another person, and it never sees which apps are installed.
Pedomint is a contract you renew daily, not a lock you cannot open. It holds for as long as you want it to.

What exactly is Pedomint?
A screen time budget powered by walking. You get a free allowance of screen time every day, earn more minutes by hitting your step count, and spend those minutes unlocking apps you have chosen to guard.
Do I have to walk before I can use my phone at all?
No. Every day starts with a free budget: 20 minutes by default, adjustable from 0 to 120 in settings. You can set it to 0 if you want a pure earn-to-scroll run. Walking only adds to it, so the day always starts with something rather than nothing.
What do coins actually buy?
Two things, both in the Mint Shop: a Streak Freeze for 150 coins, which saves a missed day without breaking your run, and a Quota Pack for 100 coins, which adds 15 minutes to today. Coins cannot be bought with money; the only way to get them is to walk.
What happens to my coins if I miss a day?
Nothing. Coins and levels are permanent; only the daily screen time allowance resets at midnight. A missed day costs you nothing you had already banked, and a Streak Freeze can carry a long run through it.
Does Pedomint really keep my data off its servers?
Yes. Pedomint has no servers of its own. Step counts are read on-device from Apple Health, your guarded apps are stored as opaque tokens that cannot be turned back into app names, and there is no analytics or advertising SDK anywhere in the app.
Can Pedomint see which apps I have installed?
No. iOS hands apps opaque tokens through Family Controls, a design Apple chose precisely so a screen time app can shield an app without learning its identity.
Can I cheat by shaking my phone or editing the numbers?
Pedomint only accepts steps written into Apple Health by Apple's own sources: the iPhone motion coprocessor and Apple Watch. Third-party apps cannot forge that origin, and there is no manual step entry anywhere in the app.
What is free, and what needs Pro?
The everyday loop is free — the daily allowance, earning minutes by walking, coins, the Mint Shop, streaks, and the steps and minutes widgets. Pro adds the four other themes with matching app icons, a third Streak Freeze slot plus one free freeze every month, and the 13-week goal heatmap in History and as a widget.
Will it work if I already track steps with an Apple Watch?
Yes. Pedomint reads step data from Apple Health, which already merges iPhone and Apple Watch readings, so nothing needs pairing or configuring on our side.
Is Pedomint a parental control app?
No. It is a self-imposed tool for limiting your own usage, and it deliberately avoids anything that would let one person monitor another. It does not screenshot, record, or report to a third party.
