Building Siftshot: How I Built a Digital Minimalism Tool Entirely with AI
Building software has changed. It used to be about syntax, frameworks, and endless debugging of missing semicolons. Today, it's about vision, curation, and dialogue.
I recently launched Siftshot, a digital minimalism tool designed to tame the chaos of screenshot clutter. But here's the twist: I built it entirely with AI, using an advanced agent called Antigravity.
The Problem: Screenshot Fatigue
We all have that "Screenshots" album. It's a graveyard of temporary information—memes, receipts, code snippets, and inspirations—that we captured to remember for "just a second," only to let them sit there for years. They are digital dust.
I wanted a tool that embodied the philosophy of a sandglass. A screenshot should have a natural lifespan. If it's important, you "sift" it into your permanent vault (Gold). If it's not, you let it flow away (Dust) when its time is up.
The AI-Driven Workflow: From AI Studio to Antigravity
The journey began in AI Studio. Before a single line of code was written, we focused on pure ideation. I used AI Studio to visualize the interface, experimenting with "sand gold" gradients and particle effects until the mood was perfect. It was design by conversation.
With the visual identity established, I handed the implementation to Antigravity. I didn't need to manually translate those designs into Widgets. I simply curated the high-level requirements:
- Stack: Flutter for cross-platform performance.
- Visuals: Dark mode first, gold accents, smooth glassmorphism (as defined in AI Studio).
I handed these blueprints to Antigravity. The conversation wasn't "how do I write a Container?" but rather "create a Hero section that feels like time is slipping away." Antigravity handled the heavy lifting—structuring the Flutter codebase, implementing complex UI transitions, and ensuring the logic was sound.
From "Sandglass" to "Siftshot"
One of the most interesting parts of the process was branding. Initially, we called it "Sandglass" (or the Chinese equivalent "沙漏"). But as we iterated, "Sandglass" felt too generic.
We brainstormed specific actions. The act of separating value from noise. The word "Sift" emerged. And since we are dealing with snapshots/screenshots, "Shot" was the natural suffix.
Siftshot. It clicks.
Antigravity even helped translate the poetic Chinese slogan "去留,在指缝之间" into the evocative English version: "To keep or let go, slipping through your fingers."
Building in Public with an Agent
The development speed was blistering. Antigravity allowed me to move from concept to a fully polished Flutter app on the App Store in a fraction of the time.
Key wins included:
- Instant Iteration: "Make the icon more premium" happened in seconds, not hours of sketching.
- Unified Design System: The agent ensured that the colors (Sand Gold `#E1C699` and Dark Slate `#2C2C2E`) were consistent across every Screen and Widget.
- Context Awareness: Antigravity understood the entire project context, making refactoring and adding new features seamless.
The Future is Agentic
Siftshot isn't just a product; it's a testament to a new way of building. With tools like Antigravity, the barrier to entry for creating beautiful, high-performance software has never been lower. The skill of the future isn't just coding—it's orchestrating.
If you're a builder, try letting go of the keyboard a bit and letting an agent take the wheel.
